Ciao everybody from Italy. Don't always have access to the internet so I can't update as much as I thought I'd be able. I've also got a ton of pictures, but no way to really upload them yet.
Anyway, spent a week in London and managed to see all the sites in my first few days when the weather was great. Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, like 30 different museums, etc. London was, as I think Teresa mentioned, a lot like New York, so it wasn't too tough to get around.
Yesterday, I had to get up at 3:45 to catch a bus, to catch a train, to catch my 7:15 flight to Milan. The cheap airlines you hear about in Europe are definitely a "you get what you pay for" kinda thing. Stood in line with about 300 other people for 45 minutes just to get checked in. Then had to take a bus out to the plane where, since they don't assign seats, everyone pushes off the bus to get the best seats on the plane. It's a good thing I believe "women and children first," in this day and age, is somewhat of an antiquated notion (anyone, anyone?). I let the elbows fly.
Anyway, got into Milan and that was really the first culture shock, since obviously Italian is first there. A bit harder to get around, but with the bit of Spanish I know (it's very close to Italian), and my flawless natural sense of direction, I'm managing. Saw the Duomo yesterday, the third largest church in the world after St. Paul's in London and St. Peter's in Rome. I was about to go in, but forgot I had my hat on and, not having showered all day, my hair would have been less than church quality.
Have to take off now and get back to the Duomo and the other old crap they have here as I'm only in Milan until tomorrow morning.
See ya later.
